Ever wonder how our gift wrap team gets started designing a new collection? Before any work is done, they are required to do some serious shopping. Sounds like a tough job, but someone’s gotta do it. And knowing that gift-wrapping mavens like you enjoy decorating your home and updating your wardrobe with the latest trends and color palettes, we want your gifts to reflect that same style. Hallmark is proud to operate the Leavenworth Production Center in Leavenworth, Kansas. This is where 300 employees and six gravure printing presses produce all of our roll wrap, flat wrap and folded tissue.

How it began

It’s hard to believe that gifts used to be given in boxes wrapped in plain white tissue with the ends folded and pinned. It wasn’t until
one winter day in 1917 when Hallmark ran out of white tissue paper that a new industry was born. On that day, the Kansas City store
resorted to designed, French envelope liners used for Christmas cards that they found out in the warehouse. But by the 1920s, Hallmark was
creating and manufacturing gift wrap, and gifts have been beautifully wrapped ever since.
