how did YOU celebrate national banana split day?
we have to say that lorraine, lindsey and katie take the cake AND the ice cream when it comes to how they celebrated national banana split day. in fact, they sent us a little letter about their celebration, and we would like to share it with you!! we think they are very good role models for teaching the world how to celebrate days of deliciousness. way to go, girlfriends!!

and here is their very famous and official letter… Dearest Hoops and Yoyo,
In honor of National Banana Split day on the twenty-fifth day of August 2008, the Hoops and Yoyo Fun Committee (made up of Lorraine, Lindsey and Katie) paid a visit to our most favorite ice cream establishment and enjoyed delicious banana splits.
To truly embrace the high significance of this special day, we did not order your ordinary banana splits. No, we did not. Instead, we three created our very own unique blend of banana split ingredients so that this day would be forever etched in our minds. We take to recognizing Hoops and Yoyo days of celebration very seriously.
In fact, as stated in our Hoops and Yoyo Code of Conduct of Utter Awesomeness, each celebratory day as noted on the Hoops and Yoyo calendar is to be recognized in a unique fashion, and rituals performed on that day are never to be repeated. This ensures that every H&Y Special Day of Spectacular Specialness is completely unique in its entirety.
In an effort to share our experience with you, we have enclosed a picture taken to commemorate this day of true importance.
Thank you for your efforts in spreading joy and happiness to the world. We believe in your message and look forward to all future holidays and special days of recognition.

stay away, hurricane fay!
when hurricane fay came to visit florida, we knew we’d be safe with miss kristi! there was lots and lots of rain and wind and other hurricaney stuff. but miss kristi made sure we stayed safe and dry. AND she was very prepared with plenty of snacks on hand. we’ll go through a hurricane with you anytime, miss kristi! you sure do know how to make s’mores!

what yoyo was REALLY thinking…
well, after reading all the thoughts you sent in, yoyo is thinking right now about how clever and funny you are!! lots and lots of you sent in what you thought yoyo was thinking (see august 14 blog). every single one of them was soooo good!! we laughed so hard that our stomach muscles were hurting!! we think that’s the most exercise our stomach muscles have had since bob made us do sit-ups after eating all his donuts one morning. (fyi, it was totally worth it.)
anyway, we picked our TOP THREE “yoyo thoughts” and we just have to show you! and heeeeere they are!!
happy 9th birthday tomorrow to jamie from reagan!! and from us, too! cake day! cake day! cake day! and, ummmm, jamie, we appreciate your marriage proposal, but, well, after we get done blushing here, we gotta go get some pizza. yeah, we’re pretty sure we have a pepperoni and cheese deficiency right now. feeling weak…must eat pizza! have a happy-smiley birthday!!

room 44 knows what counts!
mr. g and his smaaaart students in room 44 made this super-fantastical bulletin board last school year. hey, mr. g, we’re sorry it took so long to show you off, but we thought since school is starting on up again, maybe everyone could use a reminder!!
mr. g, we think you’ll be happy to know that we looooove to read. just yesterday we were reading bob’s e-mails out loud to each other. bob has a TON of e-mail from bill, who is his boss. hoops was reading them in his “bossy” voice right when bill walked by. oops. he won’t be doing THAT again for awhile. hoops was too embarrassed to even look at bill, but bill just winked and smiled as he walked by. niiiiice boss.
anyway, we have more amazing pics from mr. g in california that we’ll show ya later in a photo gallery! thanks, mr. g and room 44!!! you rock!!

soooo, emma, how does it feel to be a teen-ager, huh??? you’ve been 13 for almost a whole week now! and since we’re kinda late, we’re kinda wondering…you think your mom would make another vanilla cake with a pound of frosting??? a special “sorry” message…
we’re real super-sorry we’ve been gone so long. something mysterious happened with the hallmark wireless variant cycle in the thingamajig that hooks up to the server’s multi-functional planetary orbit. we think the planets are aligned again, so we’re back in business, people!!! and we owe soooo many shout-outs that we’re gonna give you a humongous gargantuan list tomorrow!!!!
but first, we want to say hiiiii to our friends at kirlin’s hallmark!
see, bob had heard rumors about the biiiig hoops&yoyo fans at the kirlin’s hallmark store in willowick, ohio. so when he was in the neighborhood he decided to stop in and see for himself! he met connie and nicole and denise, who were, like, “what, it’s really you? the creator of hoops&yoyo??? no waaaay!!!!” after bob showed them his driver’s license and his official hallmark id badge, they all had a great time talking and laughing and telling stories. hey, connie and nicole and denise, thanks for being so niiiice to our main man, bob! keep your eyes peeled, people…bob might walk into YOUR store one of these days!
