Gone Fishin' Party
Spring showers bring water puddles to stomp in. And even better—mud. Now that's fun stuff. We say it's time to dig in. Get messy. With birthday party ideas full of worms and fishes and—well, legendary stories about the birthday party that was thiiiiiis big. Put out yer Gone Fishin' sign. And, let's get this party started with some "catch of the day" ideas... - Eat Dirt: But that's not all. Add some worms to the mix, too. Crush some chocolate sandwich cookies and use them to cover vanilla ice cream cups. Candy worms crawling out of the top of the cup are the finishing touch. Especially cute in miniature pails or flowerpots. And slimy good.
- How Many Fish in the Sea? Fill a jar with goldfish crackers that you have pre-counted. Everyone submits a guess as to how many goldfish there are. Winner is announced at the end of the party and wins the whole jar! Good as gold(fish).
- Gone Fishin': Buy children's fishing poles from a discount store, or make your own with dowel rods and yarn. Attach a magnet to the end of the "line" and let kids go fishing in a "pool" you have filled with paper fish that have paper clips attached (to attract the magnets). Kids trade their fish in for whatever party favor is written on the fish.
- Sea-Food: Something's fishy about this whole party. No. Everything's fishy. Cut little sandwiches out with fish cookie cutters. Drink some "sea water" by making blue kool-aid. Make blue jell-o and add candy fish for an ocean view you can eat. The cake can even be cut in a fish shape, with candy worms on top. All swimming ideas.
- Catch of the Day: Before your guests leave, let them "fish" for goodie bags. Attach clothespins to the fishing poles. Let them cast out over a makeshift wall, where an accomplice can attach goodie bags to the clothespins and give them a little "fish fight" before they reel in their prize.
Worms. Fishes. Messes. It all adds up to fun. Let the fish stories begin.
