Hallmark Hall of Fame Presents The Valley of Light
Noah Locke, a veteran of World War II, returns home at the end of the war to find that his parents have died, his brother's been imprisoned and the family farm has been sold. Feeling lost in the world, Noah wanders the rural roads of North Carolina in search of a place to call home. When a mysterious stranger leads him to a small mountain community, he meets and befriends a young widow. The two lonely souls develop a strong attraction for one another and forge a close bond. But when tragedy strikes the community, Noah must decide if he truly belongs in the Valley of Light. Starring Chris Klein (American Pie, We Were Soldiers) as Noah and Gretchen Mol (The Thirteen Floor, Rounders) as the widow Eleanor, this 229th Hallmark Hall of Fame presentation is based on the book by Terry Kay. An earlier novel by Kay, To Dance With The White Dog, was made into a Hallmark Hall of Fame movie starring Hume Cronyn and Jessica Tandy, which was the last film the famous couple made together. The teleplay for The Valley of Light was written by Camille Thomasson (The Magic of Ordinary Days). The film was produced by Richard Welsh (Back When We Were Grownups, Plainsong), Andrew Gottlieb (Silver Bells, In Love and War) and Brent Shields (Brush With Fate, The Magic of Ordinary Days), who also directed.
