Cessna® 172 Skyhawk®
It is about time
Even though others feel this is not "ICONIC" enough - this plane deserves its place in this collection. I have been waiting on this plane for more than a decade!

Swing and a miss!
Of all the iconic airplanes that have been manufactured and the "suits" comes up with the 172! This year is a big disappointment. No 2012 on my tree.

I, and many of my friends, are Cessna Skyhawk 172 pilots. Although very common as another reviewer stated, I have been waiting for the 172 ornament for several years.

Disappointment for "The Sky's the Limit" line
I am writing this review to express my disappointment with the decision to model the Cessna 172 as this years ornament for the "The Sky's the Limit" line. I have been a collector of this line since its introduction back in 1997.
The level of detail in the models depicted thus far have been very impressive (with a few exceptions) and the aircraft selected have been both historically significant and pleasing to the eye, while still being somewhat unique. This is why the selection of the Cessna 172 is such a departure from what the line has left collectors like myself to expect.
The Cessna 172 is the most common aircraft in the entire world. Including this aircraft in your line is the equivalent of including a Toyota Corolla in a line of ornaments depicting the cars of the world. Though well known, this would not exactly be something that someone would want to honor every year with a place on your Christmas tree.
It is not as though Hallmark is running out of more fitting subject matter. Without more than a few minutes thought I have come up with a fairly large list myself.
More appealing aircraft would include;
Piper J3 Cub
De Havilland DHC-2 Beaver
Aeronca 7AC Champ
Luscombe 8A Silvaire
Mooney M-18 Mite
De Havilland DHC-1 Chipmunk
Beechcraft Model 18
Bellanca 7ECA Citabria
Bellanca 14 Cruisair
Beechcraft V35 Bonanza
Curtis-Wright CW-1 Junior
Piper PA-18 Super Cub
Piper PA-24 Comanche
Cessna 337 Airmaster
Pitts S1 Special
Stinson 108 Voyager
Clearly this is not an all inclusive list, but rather a few minutes of brainstorming as to what would be more appropriate than what has been offered this year.
I truly hope that this years selection is not an indicator of what can be expected in the years to come. This series has become a tradition for my family, and I was not alone in my disappointment.

Excellent model of the CESSNA 172 SKYHAWK. Only problem about the model is that the HORIZONTAL STABILIZER on the tail has a downward pitch. It should be straight and level just like the main wing. The model I purchased has this problem and so does the display at the store.
