It's wonderful
I was pregnant with my daughter while my mom was battling cancer. We knew that they would never get to meet, so my mom recorded "On the Night You Were Born" for her granddaughter. It's beautiful, and in a small way, her Nana is a part of her life. The only drawback is the fact that I STILL can't make it through the book without crying.

Wonderful Gift for Family who live far away from child
My husband, one-year old son, and I live in another country, so grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, etc. are all far from my son. I gifted this book to his grandmother (and separate books to the other grandparents), and it's amazing. My son stares in wonder as he hears his Nana's voice through the book. We can hear her choking up as she reads it, and it gets me and my husband every time! It's a really wonderful gift idea.
One important note is that you have to be in a well-lit room when recording and reading it. It's light sensitive!
