Father's Day card ideas

Dad tries not to show it, but he is sentimental. And because he never makes a big fuss over anything he does, we forget to tell him just what a superman he is. This Father’s Day, tell Dad he’s a hero...your hero. He may not talk about it, but you’ll have given him a gift that he’ll keep in his heart...always. Not sure where to start? Try one of these ideas.

Ideas for your dadThink about a special moment you shared. Write about it in his card. He’ll be surprised to find out you remember, too.

  • Tell Dad that you love him...that you notice all the things he does for you and everyone else in the family. Let him know how much he means to you. And don’t be afraid to get a little mushy—dads love to hear it. (Really!)
  • Describe a favorite adventure you’ve shared, complete with photo.
  • Tell Dad all the ways you two are alike.
  • If you have kids, tell Dad the things he taught you about raising children.

Ideas for moms to help kidsFor a father-to-be, write a note from baby listing all the fun things they’ll soon be doing together.

  • If he’s the father of a young child, a handprint (or footprint) makes a special memory—put it right on the card.
  • If the kids are in preschool, hand out the Crayola® crayons. Encourage them to draw a picture of their very handsome father on the back of the card.
  • Ask grade-schoolers to think about all the things they’ve learned from him. Write out the list.
  • Tweens and teens can write about a time their father-figure helped them out of a tough situation and what they learned from that.

And here are some note starters if you still feel a little stuck:

For Dad from the kids
Help kids tell their pillar of strength and playtime pal how much he really means with a message that says, “Happy Father’s Day to my favorite giddy-up horsie.”

For a new dad
Give any new dad a laugh with a message that says, “With fatherhood, keeping a straight face is half the battle. And sometimes the entire battle.”

For your husband
Thank your hunky hubby for his lasting devotion with a message that says, “Kids grow. Things change. Love stays.”

For Grandpa
Show your grandpa he means the world to you with a message that says, “Can’t wait to give you a double-daddy-sized hug!”
